Quartz (Silica)

Silica sand falls under the silicate group. Its chemical nomenclature is SiO2 better known as silicon di-oxide. The derivative of Silica is QUARTZ. Double decomposed form of silica is quartzite beside opal is yet another crystalline form. High quality crystal quartz, free from impurities or inclusions is commonly called a 'rock crystal' prized for its piezo-electric properties.
