China Clay falls under Kaolinite
group of clays. It is having the usual compositions of Al2O3, 2SiO2,
2H2O, Hydrous Aluminium Silicate. It has a good plasticity, does not
swell in water, stands high temperature (up to 1300C) & is non
conductor of heat & electricity.

Barytes or heavy spar is a
mineral having composition of BaSo4. It is mainly used as a weighting
agent. Insolubility in water & inertness to acid makes it suitable
as weighting agent. Barytes are marketed in three grades, they are:-
Snow white, White, Off-color. This material is the main raw material for
the manufacture of various barium chemicals.

Talcum powder or Talc is a
hydrated silicate of magnesium 3MgO, 4SiO2, H2O. It possesses the
distinction of being the softest mineral & has a characteristic
soapy feel. It has got high dielectric strength, High thermal
conductivity & Low electrical conductivity. It finds its application
in, as filler in Plastics, Polishes, and soaps. Steatite, Talc,
Soapstone are the three terms used in trade for the same material.

Silica sand falls under the
silicate group. Its chemical nomenclature is SiO2 better known as
silicon di-oxide. The derivative of Silica is QUARTZ. Double decomposed
form of silica is quartzite beside opal is yet another crystalline form.
High quality crystal quartz, free from impurities or inclusions is
commonly called a 'rock crystal' prized for its piezo-electric
properties.

Feldspar is the most abundant
rock-forming mineral in nature & comprises a group of minerals
consisting of aluminium silicates with potassium, sodium & calcium &
mixture of these elements. They occur in various colors like Pink,
Brown, Grey, and White. They are mainly three types of Feldspar found in
our country. 1] Orthoclase Feldspar 2] Albite Feldspar 3] Anorthite Feldspar Application

Mica is one of the wonderful
bounty of nature which occurs in pegmatite usually in book form &
can be cleaved up to 0.25 millimeters in thickness. Mica is chemically
silicate of aluminium with some water of crystallization containing one
or more elements like potassium, sodium, magnesium, lithium, vanadium, &
iron. Of all the species known muscovite & paragonite are of
commercial importance. It is available as both dry ground Mica and wet
ground Mica Application

Graphite is a black to steel grey
in color. It is one of the three allotropic forms of element carbon. It
is found to occur in nature in three forms namely, flakes, crystalline
and amorphous. The specific industrial application is very much
dependent upon the form in which it is found to occur. The high
refractoriness, good electrical & thermal conductivity, extreme
softness & greasiness, water repellency & leaving a black smear
on surface are the outstanding qualities for which it is valued in the
industry. Application
